This was another kind of day that was picture perfect. The kind of days postcard pictures are taken on. Beautiful. Windy, but beautiful.Because it was windy, the surf was rough and we opted to stay at the pool all day where it is a bit more sheltered. Mitch used the poolside grills to fix hot dogs and brats for our family and the Payne family from Tremont. It was very good and I'm pretty sure we made everyone else at the pool very hungry!
Had dinner tonight at a favorite restaurant near Destin Harbor called AJ's. I took this picture especially for Sarah G. because I just know how much she LOVES mannequins!
NOT!! :-)
Be sure and click the picture to get the full effect of his creepy eyes. And he's missing a finger, ha ha ha
After dinner the resident AJ's pirate came around and made balloon animals for the kids, and the night was complete. ha ha
Sounds like rain for tomorrow ... so it will probably be a shopping and having lunch out day! I think we could all actually use a day's break from the sunshine

Monday in Destin
The beautiful days keep blending together, we have had great weather for the trip. Looks like Tuesday will be just as pretty and a tad warmer ... but some rain later in the week. At this point, it's ok because we have had gorgeous days. And there is always shopping to be done on a cloudy/rainy day!
Be sure to click on these pics for the full size view and see just how clear the water is. I love how you can see TJ from head to toe in the one wave, even though the full size view is a bit blurry!Today was a great day for playing in the waves. TJ, Mitch and Beverly had a really good time doing that, while Abby and I sat in the comfort of our beach chairs and laughed at their antics. Here are some pics, and I am also putting some pics and a particularly funny video of Beverly *trying* to play in the waves on her blog,

A Beautiful Day!
Today was an absolutely picture perfect day. As was yesterday ... and it sounds like, the rest of the week!
I'll let the pool and beach pics speak for themselves. Click on any picture for a full size view.
Hello from Destin!
We have arrived in Destin and enjoyed our first beautiful day here on Saturday! We are staying at the same condo complex that we have enjoyed for the past 5 years or so, and so we feel right at home.
After some time at the pool on Saturday we headed to the beach. It was a beautiful day and the kids enjoyed the sand and surf. TJ's best friend, Jared, and his family are here so we enjoy spending our time with them as well.
We had dinner last night at The Crab Trap and enjoyed a wonderful seafood dinner. Now it's Sunday morning and we are looking forward to Day 2. Will have good beach pics to share tonight! I did put a couple other pics on Beverly's blog,http://www.tenmonthsintremont.blogspot.com/

Destin Days
One of my absolute most favorite times of the year are the days that we spend relaxing in Destin on spring break.
This year I had an unusual chance to extend the trip a bit and be here this week with Drew and Sarah on their college break. They will head back to school and the rest of the Tremont Scotts gang will start enjoying Destin on Saturday for the following week. We are looking forward to introducing Beverly to our favorite beach town and the time we spend there as a family, too.The ocean is turquoise and calm, the skies are blue and the beach is beautiful, as always.
It has been great to have a larger block of time with Drew, and to have time to get to know Sarah. Drew has enjoyed having the chance to show Sarah around the places that our family has enjoyed during break for the past several years, and I think they have had a great time. Hopefully they will now return to college a little bit more relaxed and ready to finish out the school year!

Some Spring-Like Days!

The last two days have been pretty nice for March, feeling much more like Spring.
Abby took advantage of the warm temps this afternoon to shoot a few hoops outside after school ... without needing a coat! YAY!

Seeing ourselves coming and going these days!
Over two weeks since I last posted. Yes, that is unusual for me but we are all ok! I have been wrapped up in a large public event that I plan for work, and today is the first day back in the office after quite a few long and busy days. The good news is that March came quickly and the countdown to spring break is on!
The kids are busy as ever with TJ in basketball, and Beverly with track practice and the school play. Seems like someone always needs to be taken or picked up from somewhere. That will be another good part of spring break ... no running kids, just relaxing! The picture of the fish is what our aquarium looks like right now. It was sitting empty and neglected until one of the exhibitors at the show I manage gave me 100 goldfish that he had used in his display. Our backyard fish pond is still frozen over (come on, spring!) but the aquarium was ready and waiting. They are a bit cozy in there right now, but the pond will offer some of them more room once the weather breaks. Just thought it was a funny shot to share, it makes me smile every time I look at the population explosion in there!

100 Days of Kindergarten!!
Hard to believe, but Abby's class celebrated their 100th day of kindergarten yesterday! They did several math projects relating to the number 100, and she did a project with 100 items (pieces of cereal) that she had to count out and glue to a piece of construction paper. Her cereal looked very pretty organized as a flower!
Then of course today were the Valentine's Day parties for both TJ and Abby's class. Beverly got into the action and took some valentines to school for her friends too!
Abby has also been having lots of fun with the on-line portion of her Webkinz that she received for her birthday from the Effingham Scott's! So she wanted me to share this picture for Auntie J ...
Her Webkinz panda bear (who has been named Rainbow) has been having a great time in her virtual home bouncing on her trampoline and swimming in her pool! :-)

Busy Week and Another Birthday!
The week went fast with basketball and homework and just general family busy stuff. We even celebrated another birthday this week (mine!) and now I'm upper 40-something, ha ha!!
Looking forward to some unseasonably warm temperatures this weekend and the melting of the snow that has been sitting around here for several weeks in the cold!

Our little cheerleader!
Abby had a great time participating in the THS Cheer Clinic. She spent the whole afternoon in curlers with hopes of having beautiful "curly hair" for her peformance. It did curl, but quickly fell back to her string-straight locks after just a few minutes. But the parts closest to her face stayed curled and she was happy! Even her doll had to get in on the action with a couple of leftover curlers!
Then it was time for the big night. I think the video speaks for itself as to how excited she was to be on the court cheering with the girls!
TJ had a great Upward basketball game that ended just before Abby's performance started, so he and dad had to dash back to Tremont from Morton and not miss the show! He told me that he scored 6 baskets and 5 free throw shots, so it sounds like I missed a great game! Hard to be two places at once. Beverly was busy all day but we were able to meet up with her at the school, helping build sets for the upcoming musical.
